Funeral services for Stella F. Schaefer of Harrison will be held Thursday, March 23, at 10 a.m. at the Church of the Nativity in Crawford, Nebraska, with Father Robert Chamberlain officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. A wake service will be held Wednesday, March 22, at 7:30 p.m. at the church.
Mrs. Schaefer was born June 25, 1909, in Sioux County, Nebraska, to Cyrus and Lela (Herron) Hughes. She died Sunday, March 19, at Ponderosa Villa in Crawford at the age of 85.
She is survived by her husband, William, of Harrison; a son, Vernon, of Harrison; a daughter, Doris Gushi, of Chicago, Ill.; two brothers, Pat Hughes of Clarkson, Wash., and Sam Hughes of Pocatello, Id.; a sister, Mattie Middaugh of Casper; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. A memorial has been established for the Harrison Rescue Unit or the Church of the Nativity. Donations may be sent to Security Bank of Harrison. Chamberlain Chapel of Crawford is in charge of arrangements.
