Funeral service was held last Thursday at Peet Chapel at 10:30 a.m. for Mrs. Freida Schmidt who died July 14 at the Niobrara Memorial Hospital. The Rev. Robert Boutwell officiated. Organist, Mrs. Edna DeCastro, played "When the Roll Is Called Up Yonder."

Pallbearers were Kester Akers, Bob Mayes, Dick Mayes, Harvey Herder, Melmin Herman and Jack Schmidt. Burial was in Sunset Memorial Park, Scottsbluff, Neb., at 2:00 p.m.

Frieda Schmidt was born July 4, 1926, at Loveland, Colo., the daughter of George and Margaret Kreiger Herder. She attended school at Loveland moving to Torrington in 1950. July 19, 1951 she married Fred William Schmidt at Lyman, Neb. They lived on a farm at Huntley, until 1970 when they moved to Torrington. They then moved to Lusk where she was employed as a cook at the hospital.

Mrs. Schmidt is survived by her widower; a son Ronnie Schmidt of Lusk; brothers, Alex, Edward, Henry and Pete; and sisters, Lydia, Emma Mayes Sterkle and Elizabeth Sterkle.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and two sisters.
