Anthony M. Sable

Anthony "Tony" Sable, 90, of Yakima, died February 14, 1988 in his home.

He was born August 19, 1897 in Lawrence, Kan. to William and Mary(Cosgrove) Sable. He left home as a young boy and went to Western Kansas. He moved to Wyoming in 1919 and worked in the oilfields. On June 28, 1926 he married Fern Johnson at Rapid City, S.D. They made their home at the oilfields at Osage, Wyo. and did some farming. In 1942 they moved to Monroe, where he worked in the shipyards and then to Kirkland in 1944, where he worked for Standard Oil at Point Wells as a pipefitter. He retired in 1962 and they move to Yakima in 1967. He was a rockhound and enjoyed traveling. He was a 60 year member of The Knights of Pythias.

Survivors include his wife, Fern of Yakima; four sons, James of Wy., Robert of Co., and William and Wayne both of Yakima; six grandchildren, eight-great-grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 1 p.m. in Keith and Keith 9th Avenue Chapel, with Rev. Harley Dyck officiating. Burial will be in West Hills Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Cystic Fibrosis.
