Concluding Rites Held Tuesday for W.V. Seegrist, Claimed Saturday; Interment Made in Lusk Cemetery

Final services for the late Winford V. Seegrist were held from the chapel of the Peet Funeral home at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, June 22nd, with Rev. Jacob Nein, pastor of the Congregational-Christian church officiating.

The services were enhanced with the singing of "The Old Rugged Cross" and "In the Garden" by a mixed quartet composed of Mrs. Ab DeCastro, Miss Juanita Cork, Rex Yocum and Donley Unruh with Mrs. Donley Unruh presiding at the organ.

Interment was made in the Lusk cemetery with R.S. Gagstetter, Joe Jones, Floyd Immesoete, Bill Immesoete, Lawrence Adams and Bill McKelvey bearing the remains to their last resting place. Honorary pallbearers were Fred Langdon, Ed McKelvey, John Tangen and Ed Herren all of Van Tassell.

Winford Valentine Seegrist was born July 29, 1884 in Lancaster County, Nebraska, a son of Isaac and Mary Seegrist, and departed from this life Saturday evening, June 19th, 1954 at Lusk, Wyoming. He had attained the age of 69 years, ten months and 21 days.

When a small child, two years of age, he moved with his parents to Dawes County, Nebr., where he spent his childhood days. He homesteaded in Goshen County, Wyoming and through hard work and his love for the soil he succeeded in developing his homestead. He later followed the carpenter and blacksmith trades. He also served on the Goshen County schoolboard in 1932.

He was united in marriage to Ethel Mae Turner of Hale, Missouri on December 4th, 1917. This union was blessed with three children, Mrs. Mary Hammond of Kirtley, Wyo., and Dorothy Seegrist of the home and Alice May, a daughter who preceded him in death in 1931.

In 1954, the family moved to Lusk, where occasionally Mr. Seegrist was employed on the Lusk police force. The past year, his greatest enjoyment had been remodeling his home. His love for his beautiful garden and flowers around his home was an inspiration to all his neighbors and friends.

He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Ethel, two daughters, Mrs. Mary Hammond of Kirtley, Wyo., and Dorothy of the family home in Lusk; three granddaughters, Evelyn, Carol and Norma Hammond, all of Kirtley, Wyo.; a sister, Mrs. Laura Lewis, Van Tassell, Wyo., four brothers, Leonard of Lusk, Wyo., Edgar, Crawford, Nebr., Ebner, Alliance, Nebr., Alfred, Bayard, Nebr., and a host of other relatives and friends. His parents, three brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.

Winford Seegrist Dies in Hospital Saturday Evening

Winford Seegrist died in the Spencer Hospital Saturday evening, June 19, at the age of nearly 70 years. Mr. Seegrist and his family have been residents of Lusk for 10 years, having come here from Nebraska in 1945.

Funeral services were held in the Peet Chapel Tuesday afternoon with the Rev. Jacob Nein of the Congregational Church officiating. Interment was made in the Lusk Cemetery. Pall bearers were R. S. Gagstetter, Joe Jones, Floyd Immesoete. Bill Immesoete, Lawrence Adams and Bill McKelvey. Honorary bearers were Fred Langdon, Ed McKelvey, John Tangen and Ed Herren.

The songs, "The Old Rugged Cross" and "In the Garden" were sung by a mixed quartet consisting of Rex Yocum, Donley Unruh, Juanita Cork and Edna DeCastro. They were accompanied at the organ by Mrs. Donley Unruh.
