Funeral Held for Andrew Serres

Funeral service for Andrew Serres, who died June 7 at Crawford Memorial Hospital, was held at St. John Catholic Church in Crawford on June 11 at 10 a.m. with Father Joseph Hargarten officiating. Burial was in the Crawford Cemetery. Mr. Serres was 73 and had had an extended illness.

He was the oldest son of Stephen and Mary Marking Serres, born at the family home in rural Sioux County.

On July 6, 1929, he was married to Nellie Brewster at Chadron, and they spent most of their married life on the ranch as active workers in the neighborhood until 1960 when they moved to Crawford.

Surviving are his wife Nellie; two sisters, Edith Ruffing of Crawford and Irene Merlo of Santa Barbara, Calif.

He was a member of St. John Catholic Church of Crawford.

Sister Agnesine was organist for the funeral service. Pallbearers were Ernest Serres, Harry Serres Jr., James Serres, Floyd Serres, Bob Wickersham and Bob Grimm. Honorary pallbearers were Alfred Ostermeyer, Frank Harris, John Geiser, Tress Powell, E.E. Whiteaker, and John E. Eberspecher.

Coffee, Chadron; Mrs. Jean Roeding, Tucson, Arz.; Robert Brown, Morrill; Mrs. Doug Werkmeister, Maywood, Neb.; Mr. and Mrs. Jack Serres, Sturgis, S.D.; Richard Conrad and John Serres, Hot Springs, S.D.; and Mr. and Mrs. Ron Herrick of Glenrock, Wyo.
