Funeral for Peach Shaw, 74, Held In Douglas

Roscoe N. (Peach) Shaw, 74, Cheyenne, formerly of the Orin community, died in the Memorial Hospital in Cheyenne September 22. Funeral services were held September 25, from the Christ Episcopal Church in Douglas, where he was baptized and confirmed

He was born October 12, 1896, to James C. and Elizabeth Dodson Shaw, early pioneers. His father came up the Texas Trail and worked for the Techmacher and DeBillier, French cattlemen, for 15 years after which he established his own ranch on the Platte River near Orin. On this ranch Peach Shaw was born and lived in this area for 50 years. After his father's death in 1942, he helped his brother Paul establish a ranch in Montana. In the fall of 1949 he bought an interest in the Red Cloud Cattle Company near Jay Em and operated this ranch until the spring of 1970.

Due to poor health he moved to Cheyenne to be under a doctor's care. Cheyenne was not strange to him in his younger days, for several years he furnished the wild horses for Frontier Days during the time Ed McCarty was arena director. He loved horses, and steer roping was one of his hobbies, competing also in Frontier Days, Pendleton State Fair and local rodeos for years. In 1924 he accompanied Mr. McCarty to London, England to put on a rodeo.

He held membership in World War I Veterans, American Legion, Masonic Lodge, Natural Bridge Chapter No. 9 and Aslar Lodge, Chapter No. 10, Wyoming Pioneer Association, all of Douglas, Wyoming. Consistory No. 32 Mason, Cheyenne, Goshen County and Wyoming Stockgrowers Association and Elks Lodge in Torrington.

He married Gayle Neubauer at Livingston, Mont., July 1, 1933.

Survivors besides his widow includes two sisters, Mrs. William H. (Patti) Gray, Orin.; Mrs. Fred (Ruth) Hageman, Shawnee; a brother Paul, Wiboux, Mont.; six nephews and six nieces.
