B. A. Siekert Dies In Casper Friday; Service Held Monday

Bernhard A. Siekert, 69, of Lusk died Friday at the home of his daughter and son-in-law in Casper, following a short illness caused by a heart condition. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon from Peet Chapel with Rev. Frank Bozart officiating. Burial was made in the Crawford cemetery.

Mrs. A. F. DeCastro and Donley Unruh sang "Beyond The Sunset" and "In The Garden." Mrs. J. P. Watson was organist.

Active pallbearers were Alex Miller, Bernard Tadewald, Ray Reed, Orval Allen, Casey Hamaker, Harve Ledford, Henry Wasserburger, Sr. and C. A. David. Honorary pallbearers were Hans Meng, John Wasserburger, John Hoffman, Edwin Pfister, Woodson Graham, Albert DeGering, Ray DeGering, Henry Ruffing, Bert Cuney and Jake Wahl.

Bernhard Anton Siekert was born January 17, 1889 the son of Bernhard and Anna Siekert, at Crawford. April 7, 1915 he was married to Bertha Hamaker of Belmont, Nebr. They were the parents of two children.

He spent his first 30 years in the Crawford vicinity where he was engaged in farming and ranching. In June 1919 he homesteaded in the Ant Hill area where he lived until 1934 when the family moved to Lusk. He made his home in Lusk the remainder of his life except for a short time during World War II when he worked in San Diego.

Following his trade as a carpenter for the last 25 years he worked on many business buildings erected here as well as on many homes both in Lusk and surrounding area.

Survivors include his son and family, Mr. and Mrs. B. H. Siekert, Bernie and Bonnie of Campo, Calif.; his daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Ford Porter and John of Casper, Earl and family of Rifle, Colo., Carl and family of Aspen, Colo.. and Lois Burd and family of Strongtown, Pa.; a sister, Mrs. Howard Britton of Prairie Center and one brother Otto Siekert of Omaha.

His parents, three brothers, two sisters, one granddaughter and a grandson previously died.
