Adrian Smith Dies on Friday

Adrian Smith, early resident of Sioux County, died Friday in the hospital in Crawford.

Funeral service was held Monday afternoon at Memorial United Methodist Church in Harrison with the Rev. Larry Shrout officiating. Burial was in the Harrison Cemetery. Powell Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Robert Todd, organist, accompanied Larry Todd, Todd King, Steve Haworth and Jay Coffee as they sang "Abide With Me" and "In the Garden."

Pallbearers were Albert Rabe, Ronald Grote, Ted Tipton, Julian Phipps, Adolph Zurcher and Chuck Smith.

Adrian Smith was born to Fletcher and Sara Smith on September 17, 1895, in Fairhaven Township, Stearns County, Minn.

His mother died when he was four years old, after which he lived with his grandmother, Mrs. Sara A. Pearman, on a homestead north of Harrison. He lived there until he was 21 years of age, when his grandmother died.

He worked for several different ranches before going to work for Lee Bigelow, with whom he made his home for 42 years.

On July 17, 1968, he was married to Mrs. Rubie Snocker of Harrison.

He leaves his wife; one brother, Lyle Maher of Litchfield, Minn.; three cousins, William and Irvin Caylor of Edgemont, S.D. and one cousin in California.
