Nettie R. Stauffenberg

Graveside services and interment for Nettie R. Stauffenberg, 83, were conducted Tuesday at the Douglas Park Cemetery in Douglas by Pastor Tim Tyler of the Douglas Baptist Church.

Mrs. Stauffenberg died June 18, 1994, at the Converse County Memorial Hospital in Douglas. She was born Feb. 24, 1911, in Hemingford, Neb., the daughter of Raymon J. and Sadie Mae (Lashley) Kaper. When she was a young child the family moved to Wyoming. They homesteaded near Manville, where she was raised and educated.

On May 5, 1937, she married Jess Stauffenberg in Harrison, Neb. He died July 15, 1980.

The couple moved to Douglas in the 1940s where Mrs. Stauffenberg worked as a cook at the Prisoner of War Hospital, LaBonte as a baker; Beacon; Wrangler; and Skelly Big Wheel. In her retirement years, she worked in the home health care business.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three sisters and three brothers.

She is survived by two daughters, Mary Louise Wright of Cody and Pamela Tem of Outlook, Wash.; four sons, Raymon, Stauffenberg of Douglas, Don Stauffenberg of Riverton, John Leo Stauffenberg of Albuquerque, NM and Gary Stauffenberg of Sturgis, SD.; a brother, Bert Kaper, of Manville; 10 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.

Memorials to the Douglas Senior Citizens Center or to Continue Care of Wyoming would be appreciated by the family.
