Funeral Service Held June 2 for Vaclav Stiller

Funeral services were held June 2 at the Crawford Methodist Church for Vaclav Stiller, 90, who died May 30 at his home. Burial was in the Crawford Cemetery. The Rev. Leon Foster officiated.

Mr. Stiller was born in Druzek, Bohemia, March 5, 1875. He was married to Bozena Kott in February 1900, and in October 1903 he brought his family to America. They made their home with his uncle, Joseph Civish and his family near Hemingford for three years.

He homesteaded in Sioux County in 1904 and moved his family there in 1906 where they have lived since. They experienced real pioneer hardships, and he spent his entire life farming and ranching. In recent years Mr. Stiller spent intervals with his sons and daughters, although he was active to the last.

His wife died March 13, 1946, and a son James died April 12, 1963.

Surviving of the seven children are three sons and three daughters; Charles of Gaston, Frank of Yamhill, Ore., Stanley, Mrs. William (Antoinette) Walker, Mrs. Mervil (Mildred) Reece of Crawford and Beatrice Hizer of Scottsbluff.

There are 18 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. He has a number of relatives in Europe.

Members of the Pine Ridge Club served a dinner for the family at the Clyde Hizer home at Fort Robinson prior to the funeral.
