Pete Vondra Dies Funeral Held In Torrington

Funeral services were held Friday, Sept. 18, for James Lloyd "Pete" Vondra, 78, who died at the Torrington hospital September 15. Pastor George E. Schubarth officiated. Burial was in the Jay Em cemetery.

Mr. Vondra lived two miles west of Torrington. He was born at Dwight, Neb., August 21, 1892, the son of Joseph and Valentine Fleming Vondra. He came to Wyoming and homesteaded in the Jay Em area in 1913. In 1956 he moved to Torrington where he has made his home since.

He was married to Mable Able in 1916, and she died in 1943. In June of 1946, he was married to Pearl Denver at Salt Lake City, Utah, and she preceded him in death on February 25, 1970.

He was a member of the Lutheran Church, a veteran of World War I, and a member of the American Legion and V.F.W.

He is survived by two sons, Richard of Torrington and Kenneth of Jay Em; three daughters, Mrs. Vivian Britton of Baker, Ore.; Mrs. Esther Schloatman of Brush, Colo. and Mrs. Pat Kuns of Findlay, Ohio; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Frances Shaddox of Casper, Wyo.; two brothers, Edward of Casper and Otto of Lusk; three sisters, Mrs. Anna Denmore who lives in California, Mrs. Helen Pierce and Mrs. Alice Fiddles, both of Casper; twelve grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. One brother, one son James, a daughter Mrs. Helen Gheen, and a grandson Billy died previously.
