Otto Vondra

Services for Otto Vondra, age 85, were Monday at 2:00 p.m. in the Peet Mortuary Chapel. Rev. Robert Todd officiated. Burial was followed in the Lusk cemetery.

Mr. Vondra died Thursday, March 2, 1989, at the Niobrara Memorial Hospital in Lusk following a short illness. He was born October 26, 1903, the son of Joseph and Valentina Vondra at Tabor, Minnesota.

He came to Wyoming when he was 9 years old with his parents who homesteaded northeast of Jay Em, Wyoming.

He married Mollie Slama on September 27, 1927, in Seward, Nebraska. In 1930 they moved to Casper, Wyoming, and in 1935, moved to the ranch his parents homesteaded. Otto lived an active, happy life trapping, hunting, and going to auctions. He loved the outdoors and especially the mountains.

Otto suffered his first heart attack in 1966, and had several less severe attacks in the next four years. In 1970 they sold the ranch and moved to Lusk.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Pete, Edward, and Chuck, and one sister, Anne Detimore.

Survivors include: his wife Mollie of Lusk; one son, Donald of Casper; three daughters, Arlene Clausen, Betty Dunell, and Shirley Downs all of Casper; 15 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, and nephew.

For those who wish, memorials to the Niobrara Memorial Hospital, the Niobrara Senior Center, or the charity of your choice, will be appreciated by the family.
