Daniel Lawson Webster

Daniel Lawson Webster, age 71, of Evanston, Wyoming died July 24, 1989 in Evanston.

He was born on May 9, 1918 in Cabot, Vermont to Edwin Russell & Edith Frances Lawson Webster.

He married Marion Harriet Moynihan November 30, 1945, Monpeliar, Vt.

She died in October of 1987.

He settled in Wyoming in 1935.

He was a Veteran of World War II where he was a technical sergeant in the 63rd Infantry. He received a Purple Heart during the New Guinea Luzon.

He started his career in law enforcement in Lusk, Wyoming in 1947 as a police officer.

He later joined the Wyoming Highway Patrol in 1951, and retired as a lieutenant in 1978. While serving on the Highway Patrol in 1975 he received The American Legion Wyoming Peace Officer of the Year award.

He was employed by the Uinta County Sheriff's Office the last few years.

He was an active member of the Mountain United Methodist Church and a member of the local Masonic Lodge #4, member of the Scottish Rite in Lander Valley, member of the York Rite and The Shrine Club.

His hobbies included his family, hunting, fishing & camping.

He is survived by his daughter - Mrs. Robert L. (Patricia) Simon, Evanston; Mrs. Ron (Edith) Albert, Lakewood, Colo.; 4 grandchildren: LCPL John Daniel Simon, stationed in Okinawa, Japan; Robert L. Simon Jr. and Patrick R. Simon, both of Evanston; Patricia Webster, Lakewood; a brother George Webster, Rock Fall, Conn.; and sisters Dorothy L. Webster, N. Providence, R.I.; and Phyllis Mercurio, Stratford, Conn.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and a brother (Edwin).

Funeral services were held Thursday, July 27, 1989 at 10:00 a.m. in the Crandall Funeral Home of Evanston.

Burial was in the Evanston City Cemetery (Masonic Section).

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Shriners Cripples Children's Hospital, the Evanston Kidney Dialyses Machine Fund, of the Cancer Fund.
