Dale Carson Windom

Dale Carson Windom, Lusk resident since 1939, died at the Niobrara Memorial Hospital October 10.

Born November 6, 1902, at Nodoway, Iowa, Dale was the son of Frank and Cora Windom. He and his family moved to Wheatland in 1904 where he attended school and grew to manhood. He attended business college in Denver, and then worked in Omaha for a few years before returning to Wheatland. In Wheatland he worked on various ranches until he began to work with his father as a carpenter. He and Mildred I. Meglemre were married on July 7, 1928 in Douglas.

He became assistant supervisor of the Farmers Security Administration in 1936, transferring to Lusk in December 1939. He bought the Texaco Bulk Plant in 1948 and operated it for five years until he went to work for the State Land Commission. He retired in January 1960.

He was a member and past Master of Harmony Lodge No. 24 of Lusk, Wyoming Consistory No. 1 of Korien Temple, the Elks Lodge and the Wyoming Retired Persons Association. He retained an interest in horses and livestock all his life.

Funeral service was last Sunday, Oct. 12, at Peet Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Frank Blish officiating.

Minerva Watson was organist while Mark Lohr sang "Good Old Paint" and "How Great thou Art." Members of the Masonic Lodge attended in a body.

Interment was in Lusk Cemetery with Mason Jerry Bardo giving a prayer. A memorial has been established with proceeds going to the Niobrara County Library.

Windom was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, one brother and one granddaughter.

He is survived by his wife of Lusk; son Larry of Everett, Wa., one daughter, Barbara Costopoulos, Guernsey; brother Donald, Wheatland; sister Mildred Bagley, Soldotna, Alaska; and grandson Mark McDaniel of Rock Springs and many other relatives and friends.
