Dorothy Louella York

Funeral services for Dorothy Louella York, 66, was held at 3 p.m. on June 6 at the First Baptist Church in Douglas, with Pastor Frank Wiederrecht officiating. Internment was in the Douglas Park Cemetery with Rebekah Lodge graveside rites.

Dorothy York, a life long resident of Converse County died June 2 at her home near Shawnee. She was born Aug. 5, 1938 in Converse County, the daughter of Hildred Mansfield "Pete" and Myrtle LaVerne (LaRue) McBirney.

She was reared in Niobrara and Converse counties and received her education in Shawnee and Douglas.

She married to Earl Howard York on April 25, 1956 in Casper. Her working career included working at the Broken Wheel, Anthony's Clothing Store, First National Bank and Nutri-West. She had recently retired as a distributor for Nutri-West.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Mountain Valley Rebekah Lodge #15 for more than 25 years and was the President of the Rebekah Assembly of Wyoming and the Triple C. She enjoyed reading, genealogy, scrap booking, picnics and taking drives.

She is survived by her five children, Bob York of Douglas, Waldon York and Wayne York both of Lusk, Donald York and Donna York both of Douglas; one sister, Darlene Russell of Salt Lake City, Utah; one brother, John McBirney of Alamo, Nev.; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father, Pete, on Aug. 29, 1979; her mother Myrtle on Jan. 9, 1966; her daughter, Shirley Lazure; her brother, Edward J. McBirney; and her sister, Delores McBirney.

Serving as pallbearers were James York, Roy York, Cheston York, John York, Gary Dominguez and Brian Meyer. Serving as honorary pallbearers were all of her family and friends. A memorial to the Rebekah Scholarship Fund or United Nations Pilgrimage For Youth in care of Mountain Valley Rebekah Lodge #15, 503 Fetterman, Douglas, WY 82633 would be appreciated by the family.

Gorman Funeral Homes, Converse Chapel of Douglas was in charges of the arrangements.
