Chas. Zimmerman Dies January 24

Charles A. Zimmerman, 58, of Alliance died January 24 while en route home from work that evening. He apparently suffered a heart attack and lost control of his truck which swerved across the road and into the ditch about two miles south of Berea.

Born July 8, 1913, in Sioux County and lived in the area all his life. He was an employee of the county road department. He married Dorothy Miller in Arizona in 1939. He was a World War II veteran and a member of the First Christian Church.

Survivors include his widow; daughters Jane Stanton of Edgemont, S.D.; Jean Irvine of Fort Logan, Colo., Judy Shaw and Dorothy Ditsch of Alliance; sons Roy and Charles W. both at home; sister Jessie Hanson of Alliance; brother Lyle Zimmerman of Hemingford.

Funeral service was held Friday at the Bates-Landa Funeral Home with the Rev. James Brandt, pastor of the First Christian Church, officiating. Burial was in the Hemingford Cemetery.
