Funeral services for Marlys Jean Brindisi, age 34, of Cape Girardeau, Mo., were held Saturday, Nov. 26, at the United Methodist Church in Valentine, Neb. with Rev. Carroll Plisek officiating.

Interment was at Mount Hope Cemetery in Valentine, Neb.

Mrs. Brindisi died Monday, Nov. 21, 1994, at the St. Louis University Medical Center in St. Louis, Mo.

Marlys Jean Irish was born in Valentine, Neb., on May 12, 1960, to Jean and Stan Irish. She attended Valentine Elementary School until 1972, when she moved with her mother and sister to Chadron, Neb. There she attended Chadron Middle School. In 1975, the family moved to Grand Island, Neb., where Marlys finished junior high at Walnut and graduated from Grand Island Senior High in Jan., 1978. Marlys moved to Lincoln, Neb., where she attended the Lincoln School of Commerce and worked at the B & R IGA Store.

On Feb. 14, 1981, she married Richard Brindisi in Lincoln. Her son, David, was born in Lincoln. In 1982, the family moved to Thornton, Colo., where her son, Brian, was born. They resided in Thornton until April, 1994, when the family moved to Cape Girardeau, Mo.

Marlys loved and nurtured animals. Marlys' life revolved around incredible challenges. We cherish memories of her courage, her kindness, her smile, her devotion to family and her ability to make others laugh.

Marlys was preceded in death by her sister, Kellie, and her grandparents, Guy Bishop, and Zelma and Earl Irish.

Her survivors include her husband Richard, two sons, David and Brian, of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; her sister, Sean Wasserburger of Lusk; her mother and step-father, Jean and Lyle McMindes, her father and step-mother, Stan and Helen Irish; two half-brothers, Larry and Clay Irish, all of Grand Island; and her grandmother, Mildred Bishop of Valentine, Neb.

Sandoz Chapel of the Pines of Valentine was in charge of arrangements.
