Vera I. Blackmore

Services for Vera I. Blackmore, age 70, were held at 10 A.M. Thursday in the Peet Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Allen Kallenbach officiating. Burial followed at the Lusk Cemetery.

Mrs. Blackmore died Monday, Dec. 18, 1989, at the Community Hospital in Torrington. She was born Aug. 4, 1919 at Mitchell, Neb., the daughter of Frank and Clara Powell. When she was 5 years old the family moved to Sunrise, Wyo. where she attended schools and graduated from high school.

On Aug. 28, 1940, she married Floyd B. Blackmore in Scottsbluff, Neb. Mr. Blackmore was in the service for 27 years and they lived at various military bases.

After her husband's death in 1968, she moved to Torrington where she resided until her death.

She was a member of the United Presbyterian Church of Torrington and the Royal Neighbors of America.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one sister and one brother.

Survivors include: one son, Clyde Blackmore of Boiling Brook, Ill.; four brothers: Melvin Powell of Missoula, Mont., Clifford Powell of Springfield, Mis., Frank Powell of Klamath Falls, Ore., and James Powell of Kimball, Neb.; one sister, Dulcie Oakes of Eagle Creek, Ore.; one grandson plus many other relatives and friends.

Memorials to the American Heart Association will be appreciated by the family.

Peet Mortuary of Lusk was in charge of the arrangements.
