Mrs. Bruning killed in Crash at Fremont

Mrs. Keith Bruning, 54, of Columbus, Neb., died in a two-car crash at the entrance to the State Lakes at Fremont the evening of July 20. She was the wife of the Rev. Keith Bruning, former Methodist minister at Harrison.

With her in the car were her husband, a daughter Myra who received a crushed vertebra and is hospitalized in Fremont, and a son Peter.

The Bruning car was in collision with a car driven by Miss Amy Costello, 17, of Fremont, who failed to stop at the sign onto Route 30. Miss Costello has been charged with vehicle homicide and having no driver's license. A passenger with Miss Costello, Daniel R. Duffey, 19, also of Fremont has been charged with allowing an unauthorized person to operate a motor vehicle.

Funeral services were held Friday morning at First United Methodist Church in Columbus where Rev. Bruning is associate pastor. Rev. Lowell Jones, pastor, and Rev. Edwin C. Murphy, district superintendent, officiated. Burial was at Columbus.

Mrs. Bruning was born at Middletown, Mo., on January 2, 1916. She is survived by her husband; three daughters, Maelyn of West Point, Neb., Keitha, a registered nurse at Methodist Hospital in Omaha, and Myra, who will be a sophomore at Nebraska Wesleyan University this fall; two sons, Leslie, a spring graduate of Wesleyan who is employed in Omaha this summer, and Peter of the family home, a junior high student. Leslie has accepted a teaching fellowship at Syracuse University, New York, for this fall and in addition to his teaching duties will be working towards a master's degree. A granddaughter, Georgia of West Point, also survives. The home address in Columbus is 2908 15th Street.
