Stanley Berkland

Stanley Berkland, Lusk resident since 1974, died Oct. 5 in the Niobrara Memorial Hospital. Memorial service was held Friday at Peet Mortuary Chapel.

Stanley Berkland was born Dec. 10, 1909, at Twin Valley, Minn., the son of Tobias and Marie Berkland.

He was a graduate of the University of Minnesota in 1930. On October 12, 1938, he and Anna E. Vosberg were married. They lived in Minnesota, North and South Dakota and Jackson prior to moving to Lusk.

Mr. Berkland had been an active member of the Jehovah's Witnesses since 1935.

Dennis Isenhart, Douglas, officiated at the memorial service. Pallbearers were Paul Christensen, Ed Bruegger, James Rumney, Lusk area, and Robert Hulsey, Curtis Adkison and Richard Fieldcamp, Douglas. Interment was in the Lusk Cemetery.

Memorials have been established to the Niobrara Memorial Hospital.

He is survived by his wife Anna, of Lusk; daughter Andrea Jane Duffy; brother Thomas Berkland; two sisters, Viola Berkland and Lillian Hauck; and two granddaughters, Nikki Kay and Laree Ranee Duffy.
