Wayne Dainton

Wayne was born Dec. 1, 1901, at Alliance, Neb. on the homestead his father and mother had lived on. He was the fourth child of Henry and Della Steyer Dainton. He moved with his family to Fremont County, Iowa, where he worked with his father, farming. Later the family moved to Custer County, Neb. where they engaged in farming, and raising cattle and horses.

On Sep. 27, 1927, he married Grace Brown. Grace died soon after the birth of their son Carl. Carl died while he was still a young man.

On Dec. 24, 1935, he married Elizabeth Altman. They lived their entire married life near Lusk where they raised Hereford cattle and Arabian horses.

Elizabeth, Betty as she was known to her friends, died Sep. 2 of this year.

Wayne enjoyed raising and breaking horses and he and Betty made a successful business with their Arabian breed selling them to buyers all across the United States. He kept interest in his Herefords and Arabians until the day he was hospitalized.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and two brothers.

Survivors are a sister, Mrs. Anna Wilson; four brothers, Wilson and his wife Oma of Broken Bow, Neb., Paul and his wife Wilma also of Broken Bow, Archie and his wife Albertha of Sargent, Neb. and Roy of Anselmo, Neb. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and many friends.
