The Rev. Otha B. Holcomb, 81, a longtime Wenatchee Valley resident and retired Cashmere pastor, died Thursday morning, May 17, 1990, in Parkside Manor Nursing Home following an extended illness.

He was born Aug. 1, 1908, to Samps and Ella (Beashears) Holcomb at Faubush, Ky., where he received his education. He went to Northwest Bible college and Seminary in Minneapolis in 1935 and received his bachelor's degree of divinity in 1941. He married Lydia Esther Cook on Sept. 5, 1938, at Minneapolis where they made their first home.

He was pastor of churches at New Richmond, Wis., 1941-43; Huntley, Minn., 1943-48; Audubon, Iowa, 1948-50; Hamburg, Iowa, 1950-54; Lusk, Wyo., 1954-60; Kansas City, Kan. until 1963; and Great Falls, Mont. until 1968. They moved to Cashmere in 1968 and he was pastor of Cashmere Baptist Church until his retirement in 1973.

Mr. Holcomb was involved in pastoral activities on the state and national levels. He had been director of Youth camps throughout the years; was a member of various Kiwanis and Rotary clubs, and was involved with the Red Cross.

Survivors include his wife, East Wenatchee; one son, James Morgan Holcomb, Great Falls, Mont.; one daughter, Mrs. James R. (Cheryl) Williams, Long Beach, Miss.; one brother, Edward Lee Holcomb, Somerset, Ky., and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.

Arrangements are by Telford's Chapel of the Valley.
