Steven Eugene Richards

Funeral services for Steven Eugene Richards, 42, were held May 18 at the Bethel Baptist Church with Pastor Mark Baker officiating. Cremation followed the service.

Steve died peacefully at his home May 14, 2007 surrounded by many family members and friends after a courageous battle with cancer. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Steve Richards Memorial Fund at Bank of the West in Torrington. Steven was born January 19, 1965 in Torrington the son of Russell "Skip" and Iola (Henderson) Richards. He grew up there and graduated from Torrington High School in 1984. In October 1987 he married Wendy Hessler and to that union they had one daughter, Stevie Ann Richards. In October 2000 he married Sue Morris. He was employed at Wyoming Ethanol for six years and felt that Dan and Diane and their employees made him feel part of their family. He didn't realize how much they cared for him until his illness. He previously worked for Orrison Distributing, Shasteen Transfer, and with his Dad at Rife's Dairy.

Steven attended Bethel Baptist Church in Torrington. He loved to watch his St. Louis Rams and was known to many as their biggest fan. He enjoyed camping, fishing, golfing, and most of all being with his family and friends. He was an incredible person and family meant the world to him.

Survivors include his loving companion, Sue Richards of Torrington; children, Tyler Richards of Torrington, and Stevie Richards of Wheatland; his parents, Skip and Iola Richards of Torrington; sisters Pam Shasteen and her husband Allen of Wheatland, and Lori Barnes and her husband Brad of Cheyenne; brother Russ Richards and his wife Kendal of Torrington; grandfather Robert Cornett of Cheyenne; six nieces; two nephews; one great niece; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, four step-children and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents; and a great grandmother and great grandfather.
