Mrs. Pearl Stenger, 55, Dies Thursday

Death claimed Mrs. Pearl Stenger, 55, on Thursday afternoon, April 20th, and funeral services were held from the Peet Chapel on Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock.

She was the wife of Orion I. Stenger and they have made their home in Lusk for many years.

Their son, Lieut. John Stenger, is somewhere in the Southwest Pacific war zone and it likely will be some time before he learns of his mother's death.

Anna Pearl Still was born at Sioux Falls, South Dakota, on November 4, 1888. She was the daughter of Jay Still and Bertha Idelle Stratton.

Her early childhood was spent in Egan, South Dakota. After her father's death in 1900, she moved to Parker, South Dakota. Here she attended school, graduating with the class of 1906. After finishing high school, she was reporter on the Parker Press Leader and later clerked in the store of the late G.R. Goff.

In 1911 she moved to Wyoming and homesteaded six miles south of VanTassell, Wyoming.

On December 10, 1914, she married Orion I. Stenger of Van Tassell, Wyoming, who conducted a law office there.

She is survived by her busband, son, John, who is now 1st Lieutenant with the U.S. Army in the Southwest Pacific war zone; one grandson, daughter-in-law, a sister, Mrs. Blanche Watkins of Wibaux, Montana, and several nieces and nephews.

Rev. Lawrence Juell, pastor of the Congregational Church of Lusk, officiated at the opening of the service, and Rev. Clyde Hampton, pastor of the Baptist Church, offered the closing prayer.

Music was furnished by Miss Betty Allender and Miss Shirley Borwn, with Mrs. J.P. Watson as accompanist.

Those from out of town who attended the services in Lusk were Mr. and Mrs. L.A. Stenger of Denver, Colo., and Mrs. Blanche Watkins of Wibaux, Montana, and Mrs. John Stenger of Torrington.

Final services were held at the First Baptist Church at Parker, South Dakota, on Wednesday. Burial was made in the family lot in Rose Hill cemetery.
