Bob died June 16, 2007 of natural causes in Gillette, Wyoming surrounded by his family.

A memorial service will be held on June 22 at 10 a.m. at the United Presbyterian Church in Guernsey, Wyoming with Bill Walker officiating. Burial will follow at the Fort Laramie Cemetery.

Robert Donnel Haddix was born Aug. 19, 1933 to Lora and Cecil Haddix. He was raised on a farm along Sheep Creek north of Henry, Nebraska, and attended grade school at Chalk Buttes Elementary. In 1942 the family moved to Wyoming and Bob graduated from Yoder High School at Yoder, Wyoming in 1951. He joined the service in 1955 and served his country in the United States Army stationed in Iceland. Upon his return to the United States, he married Harriet Elaine Walker on June 23, 1957 at the little brown church in Sunrise, Wyoming. The couple made their home in Sunrise when Bob went to work at the CF&I iron ore mine. Bob and Harriet had two children, Cindy and David, while living there. In the mid 1960's the family moved to Guernsey where they had two more children, Monte and Becky. After Bob's retirement from the mine in 1979, he became an activity bus driver for the Guernsey-Sunrise School system. He also became handyman doing many odd jobs for his friends and family members. As a young boy, Bob was an active 4-H member and often spoke of a memorable trip to the Denver Stock Show where he showed his prize steer. Bob was a Boy Scout Leader for several years serving Troop 49 in Guernsey. He was a member of the United Presbyterian Church in Guernsey. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with family and friends.

Bob is survived by his wife of 50 years, Harriet, of Guernsey; by his children and their spouse: Cindy (Jay) Gruwell of Lusk; David (Sue) Haddix, Monte (Melisa) Haddix and Becky (Sean) Prelle all of Gillette; ten grandchildren: Lindsey Gruwell of Lusk, Kelli Little of Gillette, Dustin Gruwell serving in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Fleet, Tyler and Dylan Haddix of Gillette, Alyssa, Erika and Camille Prelle of Gillette and Storm and Aspen Haddix of Gillette; one great grandchild, Phoebe Gruwell of Lusk; one sister, Audrey (Lloyd) Hardesty of Lexington, Neb.; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister.
