Mrs. Gussie Black Dies at Douglas

Mrs. Gussie Pauline Black, 74, mother of Mrs. Richard Heine of Keeline died Wednesday at the Converse County Memorial Hospital in Douglas. She had been seriously ill for two months.

Funeral services were held at the First Baptist Church in Douglas Saturday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock, with the Rev. Clyde Thompson, pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiating. The hymns, "Beyond the Sunset", "Good Night and Good Morning" and "Sunset" were sung by Mrs. White and Mrs. Dugan with Mrs. Wollen at the organ. Interment was made in the Douglas Park cemetery. Pallbearers were Delmar, Ronald, Terry, Roger, Leon and Stanley Burns, all grandsons of Mrs. Black.

Mrs. Black was born May 5, 1889 at Carrollton, Ill., the daughter of Stephen Augustus and Nancy Catherine Rogers. At the age of 14 she joined the First Baptist Church of Carrollton. She and her family moved to Holyoke, Colo., where she finished school. She and Royal Samuel Burns were married September 16, 1908. They were the parents of five children.

Mr. and Mrs. Burns homesteaded at Holyoke until 1919 when they moved to Manville. Later they moved to their ranch north of Keeline until Mr. Burn's death in 1936. She moved to Douglas and August 26, 1946 she married Jacob E. Black

Survivors are her husband, her children; Mrs. Ferne Corn, Mrs. Frances Carlson, Russell Burns, Mrs. Genevieve Heine and Clark Burns, 18 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, five step-children.

Out of town relatives and friends attending the services were Mr. and Mrs. Corwin Corn, Denver; Mr. and Mrs. Jack Carlson, Blackduck, Minn., Mr. and Mrs. Russell Burns, Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Burns, Mr. and Mrs. Terry Burns and Delmar Burns, Greeley, Colo.; Mr. and Mrs. Richard Heine and Royce, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Nelson, Mrs. Floyd Bartos and Jack Cooper, Keeline; Mr. and Mrs. Clark Burns, Roger, Leon and Stanley, Niobrara, Nebr.; Mr. and Mrs. Dwayne Freeman, Worland; Mr. and Mrs. Silas Black and daughter, Wheatland; Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Harrod and family, Gillette; George Heine, Fremont, Neb.; Mr. and Mrs. Dallas Swisher, Casper and Mr. and Mrs. Ira Lamb and Leonard Heine, Lusk.
