Mrs. Glasby's Mother Dies in Lusk Friday

Mrs. Alice Bedell, 78, of Newcastle died in Lusk at 6:15 a.m. Tuesday morning of a heart attack.

Funeral services will be in Newcastle Friday. Mrs. Bedell came from Newcastle to the Manring Convalescent Home in Lusk Nov. 26. She was at the Home at the time of her death.

Mrs. Bedell is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Albert Glasby of Niobrara County and two sons.

Last Rites for Alice Bedell at Newcastle

Last rites for Mrs. Alice E. Bedell were held in Newcastle on Friday, Jan. 18, at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Kenneth H. Rice, pastor of the Methodist Church of that city, officiating.

Mrs. Bedell, who was 78 years of age, was brought to Lusk last November and has been cared for since that time at the Convalescent Home, where she died Tuesday, Jan. 15.

Alice Estella Fawcett was born Nov. 14, 1875 in Allen County, Kan., a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank B. Fawcett.

Her early childhood was spent in Allen County, Kan., and at the age of 13 years she accompanied her parents and family to the Black Hills where the family homesteaded on Beaver Creek, in Wyoming. She made the trip westward on horseback, as she helped trail a herd of cattle to the new family home.

On Oct. 5, 1890 she was united in marriage to Charles W. Bedell at Newcastle Wyo., and they made their home on a ranch northeast of that city until seven years ago when she moved into Newcastle. Mr. and Mrs. Bedell enjoyed many years of married life together and on Oct. 5, 1940, celebrated their golden wedding anniversary.

Following the death of her husband in April, 1944, Mrs. Bedell made her home in Newcastle, visiting at various times at the homes of her children. She was gifted with a personality that provided ready acquaintance of all persons with whom she came in contact, and from these came many lasting friendships.

Preceding her death, other than her husband, was one son, Bert, who passed away in 1934. Survivors incude two daughters, Mrs. Ruby Merrow of Lead, S.D., and Mrs. Florence Glasby of Lance Creek, Wyo.; two sons, Earl Bedell of Newcastle, Wyo., and Kenneth Bedell of Butte, Mont.; two sisters, Mrs. Julia Bathias of St. Louis, Mo., and Mrs. Elsie Harper of Newcastle, Wyo.; four brothers, Fred Fawcett, John Fawcett, Frank Fawcett, all of Newcastle, Wyo., and Harry Fawcett of Pocatello, Ida,; eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
