George Henderson of Keeline Dies

George Henderson. 51, a resident of the Keeline community for the past 25 years, died at the Spencer Hospital at 9:00 Tuesday morning, June 7.

Mr. Henderson was ill but had entered the hospital only the Thursday before. The only other relative here is a half brother, Charles Henderson, also of Keeline.

A brother, Grover Henderson of Fort Scott, Kansas, had been notified of his brother's illness and had come by plane to Cheyenne and took the bus to Lusk, only to find on his arrival that his brother had passed away that morning.

Funeral arrangements are still indefinite; awaiting word from other relatives.

Last Rite for George Henderson are Held

Funeral services for George W. Henderson were conducted from the Peet Chapel on Friday afternoon, June 10, at 2:30.

Rev. Lawrence P. Juell, pastor of the Congregational Church, officiated and music was furnished by Mr. H. J. Templeton and Mrs. Edna DeCastro, who sang "Rock of Ages" and "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere" and the "Lord's Prayer" was sung as a solo by Mrs. Templeton. Mrs. J.P. Watson was the accompanist.

Honorary casket bearers were Wilbur Wright, Larry Eddy, Melvin Nelson, Bill Nuttall, Floyd Bartos and Dick Lee.

The remains were shipped to Garnett, Kansas, for interment.

Mr. Henderson became ill several weeks ago and was brought to the Spencer Hospital, where he underwent surgery, but failed to respond and passed away on Tuesday, June 7.

A resident of Wyoming since 1924, Mr. Henderson engaged in the ranching business and was employed for a time on the J.W. Christian ranch and at the Independent Refinery. For the past three years he has lived with his half brother, Charles L. Henderson, at his ranch near Keeline.

George W. Henderson was born December 21, 1897, at Bush City, Kansas, the son of Samuel D. and Catherine Henderson.

The deceased is survived by four brothers, Ed Henderson of Mapleton, Kan.; Grover Henderson of Fort Scott, Kan.; Frank Henderson of Osowatamie, Kan., and Reece Henderson; one sister, Mrs. Evelyn Hider of Kincade, Kan.; two half brothers, Charles L. Henderson of Keeline, Wyo.; and Daton Henderson of Blue Mound, Kan.; and two half sisters, Mrs. Edna Charles of Kansas City, Kan., and Miss May Henderson of Washington, D.C.
