Funeral Services For George Houser Held in Cheyenne

Funeral services were held in Cheyenne last Saturday for George O. Houser, editor and publisher of the Guernsey Gazette, and one of Wyoming's outstanding citizens. Mr. Houser was for six years head of the Department of Commerce & Industry for Wyoming, was prominent in Republican politics of the State for a generation, and at the time of his death was secretary of the Wyoming Press Association, a position which he had held for many years.

George Houser was an authority on Wyoming and Western history, and it was mainly through his efforts that the ruins of old Fort Laramie were restored and preserved.

Rev. John M. Pattison, pastor of the Cheyenne Presbyterian church, an old-time friend, was in charge of the funeral services. Pallbearers were Congressman Frank A. Barrett and J.B. Griffith of Lusk, State Treasurer C.J. Doc Rogers, State Examiner N.E. Hartwell, Paul Lorenz and A.D. Walton. Interment was in Beth-El cemetery.
