Mabel Newell Dies
Mabel E. Newell, 89, long-time Sioux County resident died May 29 at the Scottsbluff nursing home. Funeral service was last Thursday at the Jones Mortuary Chapel at Mitchell with Elizabeth Knight as reader. Cremation followed.
A memorial was established to the Special Olympics Fund.
Mrs. Newell was born Dec. 1, 1889, at Crawford. She and her late husband lived in Sioux County until moving to Gra Mar Manor at Scottsbluff a few years ago.
She was a member of First Church of Christ Scientist at Scottsbluff and Boston, and a member of Sunflower Chapter No. 214, Order of Eastern Star, at Mitchell.
Survivors include her daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Oberg of Harrison; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
