David Armstrong

David Armstrong passed away on Feb. 11, 2008 at Avista Hospital in Louisville, Colorado of respiratory failure. Services were held at Arvada United Methodist Church in Arvada, Colo., on Feb. 19, with Rev. Russell Butler officiating. The burial will follow at Fort Logan Cemetery in Denver.

He was born on Dec. 14, 1945 in Lusk, to Dave and Jane Armstrong and was raised in Lance Creek. He moved to Gillette in 1961. In 1964 he graduated high school and attended Casper College for two years. He served in the Air Force during Vietnam as a Load Master on C-130's. Having grown up in oil field camps, he had a passion for the oil industry. His career took him from a roughneck to a superintendent. He completed wells in many places such as Libya, Saudi Arabia, and North Seas (Scotland). At the pinnacle of his career, Dave was a highly sought after gas and oil consultant.

David loved to laugh and make others laugh. He especially loved spending time with his five grandchildren. He loved and was loved by pets of all types. He was known by most as one heck of a storyteller, but more than that as a very giving person.

David is survived by his three daughters: Vicki Caschette of Thornton, Colo., Tami Cox of Westminster, Colo., and Janice Armstrong of Westminster, Colo. (all from his marriage with Leora Armstrong), five grandchildren all of Colorado, three sisters: Donna Heald, Denise Shuster, and Debra Shaw all of Gillette; an uncle, Marty Armstrong of Texas, and his loving companion of 20 years, Linda Benz.

He was preceded in death by his parents, several aunts and uncles, and grandparents.
