J. W. Clark, Former Lusk Phone Man, Succumbs at Gillette

Word was received here from Gillette Sunday morning of the death of James W. Clark, former manager of the telephone exchange in Lusk, who transferred to Gillette several years ago.

Mr. Clark had been in poor health for some time, following a paralytic stroke about eight years ago. Due to ill health, he was retired on a pension some time ago, and the company sent him to California in the hope that a change of climate would benefit his health. He passed away at his home in Gillette at 3:30 o'clock Saturday morning.

Mr. Clark was manager of the local telephone exchange for about eight years, and he and Mrs. Clark have many warm, personal friends here. His daughter, the former Miss Rose Clark, now Mrs. Lawrence Holsapple, lived here for several years after her marriage, but moved away about three years ago.

Funeral rites were held from the Presbyterian Church Sunday afternoon at 3:00 o'clock with Gillette Lodge No. 28, A. F. & A. M. using the Masonic burial service. Rev. S. C. Ryland assisted.

J. W. Clark was born June 8, 1876., at Mason City, Iowa. He recently received a 20 year service button from the Mountain States Telephone & Telegraph Co.
