Pete Nunn dies in Mitchell

Pete Nunn, 75, longtime Sioux County rancher who had retired to Mitchell, died at his Mitchell home last Wednesday. Funeral was conducted Saturday morning in Jones Mortuary Chapel in Mitchell with the Revs. Carlyle Smith and Wayne Tieszen officiating. Burial was in the Mitchell Cemetery.

Nunn was born Oct. 3, 1903, in Fisher County, Texas, where he grew up. He ranched in Kearney County, Kan., and Wallace County Kan., before moving to Sioux County in 1951.

He was a member of the Nebraska Brand Board for eight years and Nebraska Stockgrowers Association, a charter member of National Cattlemen's Association and a life member of Sioux County Historical Society.

Survivors include his widow, Neva; son Joe of Harrison; daughters Janet Johnson of Mitchell and Judy Engebretsen of Harrison; brother Clyde of Roby, Texas; sisters Ruth Spruiell of Iowa Park, Texas, Lucy Wittenburg and Fannie Bonner, both of Sweetwater, Texas, and Mary Allen of Rotan, Texas; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
