First Woman to Serve in Wyo. Legislature Dies in California

Lingle, Wyo. - Mrs. Mary Graham, 96, the first white woman to live in what is now Sioux County, Neb., and the first woman to serve in the Wyoming Legislature, died in a Los Angeles hospital last week. Death came from pneumonia, following a fall in which she suffered a fractured thigh.

Mrs. Graham's husband, Dr. E. B. Graham, founded the famous Agate Springs ranch in 1880. She was the mother-in-law of Capt. James Cook, and grandmother of Harold Cook of Agate, Neb.

Mrs. Graham's life is woven into many incidents of Western history. She was a personal friend of Susan B. Anthony, famous crusader for the rights of women, and she took an active part in the suffrage fight in Wyoming, which was the first State to adopt woman suffrage.
