Emil Fredrick Rohlff

Services for Emil Fredrick Rohlff, 72, were held Wednesday, August 15, 1984 at 2:00 P.M. at the Christ Episcopal Church with Father Tim Solon officiating. Interment will be in the family plot at Douglas Park Cemetery with masonic and military graveside rites conducted.

Mr. Rohlff died Sunday, Aug. 12, 1984 unexpectedly at his home in Douglas.

Emil, the son of Otto and Agnes Black Rohlff was born December 25, 1911 at Douglas. He was reared and educated in Douglas, graduating from Converse County High School in 1931. He was chosen as an all-stater in basketball and track during his high school career. He attended Chillicothe Business College in Chillicothe, Mo., then he returned to Laramie to attend the University of Wyoming. He graduated from the U. of Wy. Law School in 1943. He then entered the U.S. Army serving during WW II, after his discharge he returned to Douglas where he started his law practice and started an insurance business, where he remained active until the time of his death. He was an avid golfer and chess player, and he was active in the little league baseball program for many years.

He was married to Bernice Nevins Dec. 18, 1938 at Douglas. He was a member of the Christ Episcopal Church, Order of Eastern Star, V.F.W., Samuel Mares American Legion Post No. 8, Ashlar Masonic Lodge N. 10 AF and AM, Natural Bridge Chapter No. 9 of Royal Arch Masons, and Clelland Commander No. 12.

He is survived by his wife, Bernice of Douglas; son Fred; daughter, Gretchen Rohlff; brother, Russell, two grandchildren, Nathan J. Rohlff and Linsey Marie Rohlff all of Douglas, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Kenneth C. Rohlff; and one sister, Marion Conaway.

Serving as pallbearers were Earl Stroud, Bill Roberts, Walt Murphy, Paul Curtin, John Nida and Fred Niezwagg. Serving as honorary pallbearers were Pete Petranovich, Roy Cooper, Beef Bolin, Milt Lefler, LeRoy Good, George Carmin, Jim Burns and all of his many friends.

A memorial has been established to the Christ Episcopal Church. The Converse Funeral Chapel was in charge of the arrangements.
