James R. "Bud" From

Services for James R. "Bud" From of Crawford were held Thursday, Nov. 1 at the Methodist Church in Harrison, Neb. with Rev. Jeff Thurman officiating. Burial followed at the Harrison Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Robert York, James York, Philip Henry, Gene Bartow, Richard Pullen and Bill Baker.

Music was by Dorothy Todd, organist and Bill Mann sang The Lord is My Shepherd; Still, Still with Thee, and Sunset and Evening Star. The V.F.W. Honor Guards fired a farewell salute.

James Russel From was born Jan. 18, 1912, to James W. and Belle From at Shelby, Neb. He died Oct. 29, 1984, at Crawford, Neb.

March 20, 1920, he moved with his family to a farm three miles west of Harrison where he lived until 1976 when he entered the V.A. Hospital at Cheyenne. Later James was moved to the Gra-Mar Manor in Scottsbluff and later to the Ponderosa Villa at Crawford.

James was preceded in death by his parents, two infant brothers and a sister.

He is survived by his brother Arthur at the family home; his sisters and husbands, Bessie and Otto York of Torrington, and Marcella and Glenn Fitch of Harrison; four nephews, Edward York of Georgetown, Texas; James York of Torrington; Robert York and Philip Henry of Harrison and one niece, Marybelle Feagler of Torrington; six grand-nephews, four grand-nieces and one great grand-nephew.

James spent three years and seven months as an airplane mechanic in World War II and two years and five months in England.

He was a 50-year member of the Methodist Church, a member of the Niobrara Electric Association board of directors for 20 years and a member of the Harrison V.F.W. Post.

During his school years, he was known as Russel, his army years Jim and to everybody, "Bud".

Memorials may be given to the Methodist Church or the Ponderosa Villa at the Sioux National Bank.
