David Wucherer, 90, Lusk Pioneer, Dies in California

David Wucherer, 90, and a pioneer of Lusk, died Apr. 17 at the home of his son, Homer Wucherer, in Merced County, Calif.

Mr. Wucherer started the first shoemaker's shop in Lusk when the town was young and built up quite a reputation for his hand made cowboy boots.

During Lusk's oil boom days of 1917-20, Mr. Wucheerr platted land that he owned in what is now southeast Lusk, into city lots and opened up the Wucherer addition.

Mr. and Mrs. Wucherer and their family moved to California many years ago and have resided at Berkeley most of that time.

A son, Lewis, who was a native of Lusk, died Oct. 26, 1951 and was buried with military honors in the beautiful San Bruno Military cemetery.

David Wucherer is survived by his wife, Mary, and sons, Homer and Paul, and a daughter, Ruth. A granddaughter sang "The Lord's Prayer" at the funeral service which was held Apr. 19.
