Frank G. Boggs

Frank G. Boggs of Harrison, Neb., died Saturday, June 22, 1985. He was 82.

Mr. Boggs was born Jan. 27, 1903 in Shawnee, Okla., the son of Frank Wesley and Olla Galloway Boggs. He spent his boyhood in Oklahoma.

After his father's death, the family moved to a ranch near Harrison, Neb. He was graduated from Sioux County High School in 1933 and was valedictorian of his class. After several years of ranching, he moved to California in 1928 where he worked with his brother in the mortuary business.

He was married in 1931 to Verna L. Hanson at Harrison.

They made their home in Santa Monica, Calif., where they reared their family. He was president of Boggs & McBurney Auto Parts, his primary lifetime business, which grew to three stores in West Los Angeles and Santa Monica.

After retirement, he spent the past 15 years managing the ranch properties southwest of Harrison. The restoration of ranch lands and buildings were of special interest to him.

He served in many capacities as a member of the First Methodist Church in Santa Monica. He directed in the installation of the sound system and twice served as building chairman for the construction of a new church plant.

He was a lifelong member of the Exchange Club International and served as president of the Santa Monica club and was district governor on the state board.

He will be long remembered for his devotion to his family and friends. Striving to always do his best, he was known for his integrity in all dealings.

He will be missed by his family who survive him; his wife, Verna of Harrison; a son, Frank W. of Rising City, Nebr.; daughters, Arlynn Stark of Santa Monica, and Shirley McChesney of Tucson, Ariz.; a brother, John of Toronto, Canada, and nine grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 26, at Memorial United Methodist Church in Harrison. The Rev. Alan Davis officiated. Burial was in Harrison Cemetery.
