Ruth Bartle Dies at 53

Mrs. Ruth K. Bartle, 53, died Wednesday after an extended illness at her home, 629 West 11th. She was an active worker in the Shrine club and Benevolent and Protective Order of Does, as well as many other local organizations.

Mrs. Bartle was born Oct. 4, 1914, in St. Paul, Minn., and moved with her parents to Casper when she was three months old. Soon afterward, her family again moved to Lusk, where she graduated from Lusk High School. After graduation she returned to Casper and later married Melvin Strohecker. The couple ranched south of Powder River until his death in 1957.

She and Harland Bartle were married June 29, 1959, in Casper, where they made their home since.

Mrs. Bartle is survived by her husband; a sister, Mrs. Phylis Inman of Downey, Calif.; two brothers, Guy D. Murphy of Sitka, Alaska, and John W. Murphy of South Lake Tahoe, Calif.

She was active in various organizations and was a past president of the BPO Does, Drove No. 38, and was serving on the board of trustees of the Does at the time of her death. She was a former officer of Keta Court No. 59 of the Shrine, and was a member of the Zilah Club and Daughters of the Nile, as well as being active in the Sage Hens of the Poison Spider area.

Services are pending at Bustard Funeral Home.
