Theodore "Ted" Schmidt

Mass of Christian Burial for Theodore "Ted" Schmidt, 89, was held Wednesday, Dec. 3, 1986 at St. James Catholic church in Douglas. Father Philip Colibrabo officiated with burial following at the Douglas Park Cemetery.

Schmidt, a longtime area rancher, died Monday, Dec. 1, 1986 at the Michael Manor in Douglas. Rosary was recited the following day at Converse Funeral Chapel.

Schmidt was born March 20, 1897 at McCook, NE to John and Mary Trudnoski Schmidt. He was raised and educated in McCook. He married Veronica Fitzsimmons at Greeley, NE and the couple moved to Wyoming in 1919, homesteading the Dull Center Community. A member of the Niobrara County Farm Bureau, he was employed by C.M. Smith as a pile driver for 15 years.

Schmidt is survived by two sons, J. Leo Schmidt of Long Beach, CA, and Harold Schmidt of Casper; two daughters, Eulalia Duran of Douglas and Elizabeth Sutton of Casper; one sister, Lillian Schmidt of Douglas; 16 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife in 1974, five brothers, two sisters, one granddaughter and one great-grandson.
