Gary Thomas Gregory "Nub" Troudt

Mass of Christian Burial for Gary Thomas Gregory (Nub) Troudt, 55, of Lusk, will be at St. Leo's Catholic Church in Lusk, Wyo. Monday, Aug. 3, 2009, at 1 p.m. with Reverend Rafael Chiaka of Lusk and Reverend David Erickson of Lander concelebrating the Mass. A rosary will be recited at St. Leo's at 5 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 2. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sun., Aug. 2 at Pier Funeral Home. Gary passed away Friday, July 24, at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff, Neb. due to complications from diabetes.

Gary was born Oct. 15, 1953 in Torrington, Wyo. to Donald and Rita (Dolan) Troudt. He was raised and educated in Guernsey, where he worked part-time at the Sunrise Mine. He walked on to the University of Wyoming football team, and graduated in 1978.

He was a beloved middle school teacher and coach in Lusk for 31 years, teaching history and coaching football and basketball.

Gary married Anita Mason Aug. 7, 1982 in Cheyenne, Wyo. They were never blessed with children of their own, but felt blessed with every child they taught.

Gary loved JFK, the Green Bay Packers, UW football games, gardening, playing board games, and driving around in his '73 Jeep.

Gary is survived by his wife, Anita (Mason) Troudt; sister Susan (Ron) Bristow; and brother John (Robyn) Troudt of Guernsey, Wyo.; his cats Roly, Poly, and Smoky; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Frank, his best friend Rick Frederick, and through the years by many beloved pets.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Humane Society of the United States, your local animal shelter, or the American Diabetes Association.

Pier Funeral Home in Lusk is in charge of arrangements.
