Dr. J. M. Stenner

Dr. J. M. Stenner, also known as "Doc", died Thursday, Aug. 27,2009 at his home in Casper.

John was born in Chicago, Ill. in 1919 and grew up in Lusk, Wyo. where he played football with the Fagan boys and graduated from High school in 1938.

Then he received his Pre Med degree from SMU in Texas and enlisted in the Air Force and became a pilot. The girl he couldn't forget that he had met in Dallas, Texas, Toni Schindler came out and they were married at Maxwell Field Air Force base in Georgia.

John and Toni then moved to Chicago where he graduated from the Illinois College of Optometry. It was there that their son, Duane was born. They then moved to Riverton, Wyoming where "Doc" had his practice until 1972, and then he moved his practice to Casper, Wyo. where he had a joint business with his daughter Toni Charm and son-in-law Bryon.

He and his wife retired in 1996 and went back to their home in Riverton. Then because of bad health they moved back to Casper, where his devoted wife took care of him until the night he died.

He was proceeded in death by his son, Duane Fairfax Stenner and is survived by his wife Toni, their daughter Toni Charm Lussier and her husband, Bryon J. Lussier, "Docs" grandson Paul James Lussier whom he was so proud of and is attending graduate school at McGill University in Montreal Canada and his granddaughter Kendra Stenner residing in Ft. Collins, Colorado where she works for United Blood services. Dr. Stenner is being cremated and a service will be held for him at a later date.
