A loved one from us has gone,
A voice we loved is stilled;
A place we find so vacant,
That never can be filled.

His merry smile we miss,
His footsteps no more we hear;
Upon his brow a kiss
Was to all of (us) so dear.

We always will remember
His sweet and loving ways;
His ever cheerful laughter
Throughout these dreary days.

But God called him away,
He knowing it was best,
And now our dearly loved one
Is lying in sweet rest.
