Mrs. Rosa Cox Passes Friday

This community was saddened by the passing of Mrs. Rosa Cox on Friday evening at the Lusk Hospital. Mrs. Cox had made here home with her daughter, Mrs. Crawford Tardy for the past six years and was well known here. She had been in ill health for some time and had been confined to her bed for the past three weeks.

Mrs. Rosa Cox was born in Norfork, Virginia on March 12, 1865, the daughter of Henry and Virginia Chandler Harwood. She passed away at the Spencer hospital on Nov. 13, 1942, aged 77 years, 8 months and one day.

On Thanksgiving Day 1888 she was united in marriage to Walter Wilson and to this union were born three daughters, Evelyn, Frances Virginia, and Mary Rose. Only Virginia (Mrs. Crawford Tardy) survives her mother. Mr. Wilson passed away in February 1913. In 1920 she was married to Mr. Wallace Cox. Mr. Cox passed away in 1930.

Mrs. Cox spent her entire life at the Wilson plantation near Norfork, Virginia until ill health forced her to come to Wyoming. Six years ago she came to make her home with her only daughter.

"Grandma" Cox has been a life-long member of the Methodist church and has always lived a good Christian life. She will be greatly missed by her many friends and neighbors and their sincere sympathy is extended to the family.

Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. Millard Marshall at the Peet Chapel at 1 P.M. Sunday. Interment was in Douglas Park cemetery. Pallbearers were Willard Croft, Albert Lagerberg, Marvin Skillings, Emiel Lehman, Chester Stubson and Oscar Hutchison.
