A funeral service for former Wheatland, Wyo. resident and current Bismarck, ND resident, Doreen Faye Hauge, 86, will be conducted at 10 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 12, 2010, at the First Christian Church in Wheatland. Interment will follow in the Chugwater Cemetery near Chugwater, Wyo.
She died Sunday, Aug. 8, 2010, at the emergency room of the Platte County Memorial Hospital in Wheatland.
Doreen was born June 25, 1924, in Ellsworth, Iowa, the daughter of Clarence Levi and Anna Marie (Twedt) Thompson. She attended school and later went on to beauty school. She owned her own beauty shop. Doreen and her husband also owned and operated The Candlelight Inn in Martin, South Dakota, retiring in 1992. Doreen married Norman Dennis "Hook" Hauge on September 29, 1946, at the Lutheran Church in Forest City, Iowa. They lived in Iowa and Nebraska for a few years before moving to Martin, South Dakota, where they lived for many years. The couple moved to Wheatland to be near family upon retirement. Doreen was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, and in earlier years she was a 4-H and Brownie leader, school volunteer and church secretary.
Survivors include two daughters and their spouses, Jeanne Kay (Stephen) Peterson of Lance Creek, Wyoming and Debra Sue (Kevin) Tschosik of Bismarck, North Dakota; a sister, VaDonna Swanson of Ames, Iowa; four grandchildren, Rosemary (Philip) Henry of Harrison, Nebraska, Katie Richards of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Becky (Tracy) Vaughn and Mick (Lisa) Cochran all of Wheatland; and seven great-grandchildren, Brett, Blake, Kelsey and Trevor Vaughn, Chase Cochran, and Dmitri and Elyse Richards.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, on April 13, 2002; and a brother, Everly Thompson.
Serving as pallbearers will be Mick Cochran, Blake Vaughn, Philip Henry, John Benton, Bob Bauer, and Russ Kuehner. Honorary pallbearers will be Brett Vaughn, Kelsey Vaughn, Trevor Vaughn, Chase Cochran, Dmitri Richards, Elyse Richards, Tracy Vaughn, Becky Vaughn, Lisa Cochran, Katie Richards, and Rosemary Henry.
Memorials to the First Christian Church Youth Fund, 95 - 19th Street, Wheatland, WY 82201 or Home Away From Home, 2600 East 18th Street, Cheyenne, WY 82001 would be appreciated by the family.
Family and friends may call at the Fireside Room of First Christian Church on Wednesday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
