DAVE HULSE, HIGHLY RESPECTED CITIZEN FROM NEAR VAN TASSELL, PASSES AWAY IN LUSK TUESDAY
Funeral to Be Held at Van Tassell Friday Afternoon
James David Hulse, well-known farmer and rancher from about eight miles southwest of Van Tassell, died at the Lusk Hospital at 6:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 6th, from a streptococic infection in the left hand which was caused from being pricked by a pin.
Mr. Hulse paid little attention to the apparently small wound at the time, but when his condition became serious he was brought to the hospital here in a futile attempt to save his life, but he was beyond medical aid.
Funeral services will be held from the Congregational Church in Van Tassell Friday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock, the Rev. Cowman officiating. Arrangements are in charge of the Peet Mortuary.
Pallbearers selected are Frank Martin, Andrew McMasters, Harry Burnham, Stanley Frazier, Jeff Boyles and Tom Crelly.
Rev. Cowman will deliver a funeral sermon, taking his text from John 14. Songs selected are "In the Garden," "He Leadeth Me" and "Old Rugged Cross."
Mr. Hulse was born in Tama County, Iowa, on September 7, 1876, and passed away on April 6, 1937, at the age of 60 years and 7 months. He located in Niobrara County on June 19, 1919, having taken a homestead about eight miles southwest of Van Tassell.
He is survived by his widow, Margaret Hulse, and son, Marvin Hulse, and an adopted son, Otis, all of Niobrara County. Surviving brothers are George Hulse and Earl Hulse, both of Niobrara county; two sisters, Mrs. Blanche Lease of Marquette, Iowa, and Mrs. Lou Hammerstrom of Kansas City, Mo.; three nephews and three grandchildren. His mother passed away in 1925 and his father in 1930, both at the family home southwest of Van Tassell.
Sepulture will be in the Van Tassell Cemetery.
Mr. Hulse was a highly respected citizen of the county, and leaves a host of warm personal friends who will regret to learn of his death.
