Pioneer Woman of Rawhide Dies in Rawlins Sept. 15

Mrs. Sophia Luella Watt, 83, a pioneer woman of the Rawhide Buttes community in the 80's, died in Rawlins Sept. 15.

Sophia Luella Rehmeyer was born in Jamestown, Mo., on April 24, 1871, and came to Wyoming with her family in 1877 when they settled at Ft. Laramie. They returned east in 1883 but moved back to Ft. Laramie in 1887 and lived near Rawhide Buttes. In 1890 Miss Rehmeyer and her brother Charles moved to Rawlins where she married Matthew Watt in 1897. They made their home on a ranch near Saratoga for maany years. Mr. Watt died in Oct. 18, 1919.

Survivors include her daughter, Mrs. John M. Conyers, Saratoga; two sisters: Mrs. J. H. Wilson, Knoxville, Tenn., and Mrs. H. E. Stevens, Los Altos, Calif.
