Anna M. Mills of Lost Springs Buried in Douglas

Funeral services for Mrs. Anna M. Smith, (as published), resident of Lost Springs, were held at the Hoffman Mortuary in Douglas on Monday afternoon, with Rev. Rostron, pastor of the Methodist Church, officiating.

Interment was made in the Douglas Cemetery, her remains being laid beside those of her husband, who died in 1935.

The casket bearers were William Kant, Roy Pennington, Tom Bowers, Roy Condray, Leonard Gilbert and Otto Bible.

Anna M. Haywood was born in David County, Iowa, December 29, 1869. She graduated from high school in Bloomfield, Iowa, and for a time taught school, later being engaged in the millinery business.

In 1902 she was married to John T. Mills of Lancaster, Mo., four years later they moved to Wyoming and homesteaded north of Lost Springs and were well known to many people in both Niobrara and Converse counties.

Mr. Mills died in 1935 and Mrs. Mills later moved into Lost Springs, where she has since resided.

When she became ill she was brought to a hospital in Lusk, where she died February 6.

She is survived by one brother, Harry Haywood of Cherryvale, Kansas; one sister, Minnie Wallace of Wheaton, Ill; four nephews, three nieces and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Maude Haywood, of Vivian, So. Dak., who has been with her during her illness.

A nephew, James Haywood of Cherryvale, Kansas, attended the funeral services.
