George Coburn Dies in Colorado at the Age of 100

A centenarian, George A. Coburn, formerly of Van Tassell, died at Minturn, Colo., Saturday, March 30, at the age of 100 years, three months and 12 days.

Mr. Coburn is the last member of the Denver Abraham Lincoln post, Grand Army of the Republic. He died at the home of his grand-daughter, Mrs. E. H. Edlund, with whom he has been making his home since moving from Denver three years ago.

Born on December 18, 1845, he served in the Civil War from 1863 to 1865, as a member of the Ninth Vermont Regiment.

After the war he entered the cotton milling business, which trade he followed for many years.

With the settling up of the Van Tassell community, Mr. Coburn and his wife came to Wyoming and homesteaded near there. Mrs. Coburn died at Van Tassell in 1926 and was buried in the cemetery there. Soon after that Mr. Coburn moved to Colorado, where has since resided.
