Simon Simonson Dies Here Thurs.

Funeral services were held at the Peet Chapel on Friday afternoon at 1:30 for Simon O. Simonson, 84, who was born near Oslo, Norway, on September 5, 1862. He died Thursday, December 5, in Lusk. Rev. Lawrence Juell officiated at services. Mrs. C. E. Marvin, Mrs. Emerson Bonner and George Gibson, accompanied by Mrs. J. P. Watson, sang "Rock of Ages" and "Abide With Me."

In 1881 he married Sarah Dagsland. To them were born seven children - Oscar, who died at the age of 6, and Mrs. Tena Long, who died in 1928. The surviving children are Mrs. Anna Melland of Loretto, Neb.; Simon T. Simonson, Nela and Carl, who reside at Mullen, Neb.; Mrs. Helen Brooks of Keeline. Their mother died on Dec. 6, 1902 and was laid to rest at Newman Grove, Neb.

In 1904 he was married to Anna H. Ericksen, who died August 3, 1941. To them seven children were born. Paul died at ten months of age and Mildred at 4 years. Surviving are Ruth E. Simonson of New York City, Thelma F. Mills of Phoenix, Ariz.; Byron O. Simonson of Salem, Ore.; Dorothy H. Wooster of Billings, Mont., and Lieut. Sidney A. Siomonson of the U. S. Army.

In 1906 the family moved to Cherry County, Neb., where they were engaged in ranching. In 1914 they migrated to Wheatland, Wyo., where they lived until settling at Shawnee in 1921. For the past several years he made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Helen Brooks of Keeline.

In early life Mr. Simonson became a member of the Lutheran Church and remained faithful to that belief. Though he had little opportunity for schooling, he was very well informed and was active in the building up of the communities in which he lived. He is survived by ten children, 35 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

His sons, Simon, Nels and Carl of Mullen, Neb. and his daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Wooster of Billings, Mont., arrived before he passed away.

The remains were taken to Mullen, Neb., where services were held on Saturday afternoon, with final services and interment at Newman Grove, Neb., on Sunday, December 8.
